There have been no reported cases of HIV transmission from casual contact while living with a person with HIV or AIDS, even for a long time. However, there have been reported cases where household members became infected with HIV as a result of direct blood-to-blood contact, such as sharing a razor or toothbrush, getting
stuck with a needle, or by getting infected blood on a rash and/or open sore.
